Jealousy medium

I was searching for the joy of partner-dancing.

After trying classes in ballroom and Latin, I found my way to Ceroc (a.k.a ‘Modern Jive’) which could be best described as ‘free-form partner-dancing’.

This led to many amazing things… including dancing in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

I was very fortunate that, after studying Ceroc Dancing for years, I had the opportunity to choreograph and dance routines with some truly great people and dancers. These routines won many national-level competitions.

There are basically four categories of Ceroc dancing;:

These routines are choreographed for and performed by amateur dancers doing it just for the joy of dancing.

If you only watch one routine, I hope you’ll watch this showcase choreographed and performed with Enza Burgio:

Showcase routines

The most demanding form of partner dancing, showcases are choreographed and performed by a single pair of dancers. Each of the three completed routines – Jealousy, Smooth and Kashmir – won national-level championships. See comments on each routine below.   More: Teams routines with hand-picked dancers Group routines open to any student who wanted to …

Team routines

Team routines involved handpicked dancers and were generally put together to compete in championships. The exception here is ‘Ceroc Rueda’ which was choreographed be be performed at a ball. As you look at these team routines, keep in mind that these are amateur dancers. Obsession, Bring it on and I’m Outta Love all won national …

Group routines

Group routines are open to all comers. They were choreographed and taught for performance at balls and shows. In one case – I’m Outta Love – we had national champions in the same routine as dancers who had 13 weeks’ experience.   Keep in mind that these are all amateur dancers. Comments on each …
